EXHIBITIONS
We hold a major Biennial Exhibition and other displays are presented at various venues from time to time.
Our next major Biennial Exhibition ‘Timeless Treasures 2009’ is to be held from 9th to the 13th September, 2009. The embroidery projects of members work for the past two years will be exhibited. There are generally 350 to 400 items, exhibited by approximately 63 members. The Exhibition is well supported by the local community as well as intrastate, interstate and overseas visitors who are enjoying time in our beautiful city.
A vast array of different stitches and techniques are on display. Some projects are the design and handwork of the exhibitors, whilst others are from a design found in a kit, book or some other source. Also on display are many items made at the various workshops as well as by members of HEGYS. The trade table is always a very popular destination for visitors to the Exhibition - Many buying embroidered items, made by guild members, for Christmas gifts, presents for others or a little treasure that has to be bought for no particular reason. Invitations are sent to schools in the area and each student attending with a school group is given a project kit to take away. The Exhibition is a showcase of the amazing ability of our members, and something that we share with great pride.
