WORKSHOPS
Workshops provide a structured means for members to increase their knowledge and skills in embroidery. They offer instruction in a diverse range of embroidery techniques, are open to all members, and designed to suit both beginners and the more proficient members. Joining a workshop provides participants with the opportunity to be instructed in the correct techniques applicable to particular styles of embroidery. Workshops also enable members to enrich their experiences and meet with other guild members with similar interests.
An average of three workshops, on particular techniques are held annually led by local, intrastate and interstate tutors. Where sufficient numbers are not obtained from within the guild, workshop places are offered to other guilds or to the community.
Workshops are advertised in the guild newsletter with details provided on the tutor, cost, materials required, times and dates. Costs are kept to a minimum so that all members have the opportunity to participate.
Stitch and Share sessions are held monthly on a Thursday afternoon and some evening sessions. Many varied embroidery related subjects are covered. Basic stitches sessions will be conducted by members who have skills in particular stitches and the ability to share with others. A number of stitches will be covered over the following months and the participant may wish to make the end product into a sample book, join together as a sampler/cushion/quilt or make into individual pincushions etc.
